UNLV squares off against Toronto, Denver and California Baptist this weekend
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's and women's swimming teams will jump start their 2021-22 season this weekend when they host a pair of double duals against University of Toronto, Denver and California Baptist from Friday-Saturday, Oct. 21-22, at Jim Reitz Pool.
The Rebels begin their season-opener against Toronto and Denver on Friday with swimming events at 4:00 p.m. PT and the diving competition - which will only be scored in Saturday's double dual - at 7 p.m. PT. That will be followed by the Scarlet & Gray's meeting with Denver and California Baptist on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. PT.
On the women's side, the Rebels return multiple All-Mountain West selections from last season. This list is headlined by super seniors Teneka Ash (200 fly; 500 free; 1650 free) and Gabby Lizzul (400 IM; 200 fly). Juniors Ruby Howell (200 IM; 400 IM; 200 breast), Blanka Bokros (100 fly; 200 fly), and Calysta Barlett (100 breast; 200 breast) add to the group of Scarlet & Gray swimmers coming off all-conference nods in at least two events.
For the men's team, UNLV also brings back numerous All-WAC swimmers. That list includes super senior Reece Hemmens (200 free); seniors Cam Castro (1650 free; 500 free; 200 free) and Panos Bolanos (100 back; 200 back; 200 IM), junior George Ratiu (100 fly; 50 free; 100 free) and sophomore Dominik Bujak (200 IM; 400 IM; 200 back).
