Rebels Complete Series Sweep Over Air Force

UNLV stays perfect in conference play with a 6-0 record.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team opened conference play 6-0 for the first time since 2004 with a 8-5 win over Air Force Sunday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. 

The Rebels improved their overall record to 12-8 (6-0 MW), while the Falcons saw their record drop to 6-12 (1-4 MW). The Scarlet & Gray still owns the all-time series record between both programs, now 108-39.  

REBEL OF THE GAME: Joey Walls went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored, including his third homer of the season and one RBI.

TURNING POINT: Air Force had the lead after the top of the second, 1-3, only for the Rebels to come back in the home half of the frame with two runs from Edarian Williams and Joey Walls, followed by a 2 RBI double from Austin Kryszczuk that brought in Rylan Charles and Santino Panaro

Noah Mattera (3-0) earned his third win of the season after pitching 6.0 innings, allowing four runs off of six hits and nine punchouts.  

Conner Woods (S,1) secured the save after going 1.0 innings of relief, allowing only one run on one hit. 

Seungmin Shim (2-2) was saddled with his second loss of the season after going 2.1 innings, allowing six runs on six hits and only striking out three. 

UP NEXT: UNLV will hit the road for a single-game, nonconference midweek contest against UC Riverside, held at the Riverside Sports Complex, Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
