Rebels Take The Win Over Sun Devils

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team defeated Arizona State, 11-10, during a nail biter, single-game contest Tuesday evening at the Las Vegas Ballpark in Downtown, Summerlin.

The Rebels improved their record to 16-9 (8-1 MW), while the Sun Devils saw their record fall to 11-15 (3-3 Pac-12).

REBEL OF THE GAME: Edarian Williams went 4-for-4 at the plate for the Rebels, hitting two triples on the night, a season-high five RBI and scored three runs.

TURNING POINT: The ballgame was tied 10-10 going into the home half of the ninth inning, only for Williams to hit his second triple on the night followed by the bases being loaded intentionally. Williams scored the winning run off a wild pitch.

Hayden Nierman (1-0) earned his first win of the season after pitching 2.2 innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits and one punchout.

Blake Pivaroff (0-1) was saddled with his first loss of the season after only pitching one inning of relief and allowing one run off of one hit and one strikeout.

UP NEXT: UNLV will head over to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a three-game series at Santa Ana Star Field against the Lobos beginning Friday at 6 p.m. (MT).

BACK AT THE EARL
The Rebels will return to Las Vegas and Earl E. Wilson Stadium for a single-game, nonconference contest against UC Riverside Tuesday, April 5. UNLV will play back-to-back home games April 5-24 with series against UNR, San Jose State, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico and a single-game contest against Dixie State April 12.
