Rebels Run-Rule Highlanders

LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV baseball team (22-18) hosted UC Riverside (12-23) in a midweek nonconference matchup at Earl E. Wilson Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, their last match before they take the road this weekend. The offense would fire off on all cylinders, run-ruling the Highlanders in seven innings on a final score of 16-5.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Highlanders struck right off the bat in the first inning, scoring a run off a pair of hits in the first inning.
- The Scarlet & Gray placed runners on the corners in response before an out was recorded in the bottom of the first, Austin Kryszczuk slapping a sacrifice fly in the outfield to even the score.
- The scoring wouldn't stop there, Bailey Seeger slapping a two-RBI single to left field later in the inning to score Chase Ditmar and Kade Higgins.
- The second inning was the Rebels' bulkiest set of runs in the contest, channeling four RBI-hits for nine runs total. Kryszczuk would kick things off with a two-run homer to left-center.
- The next two runs stemmed from unconventional walks with the bases loaded, both Santino Panaro and Seeger earning an RBI for their free trip to first.
- The next three of four batters would each post hits to drive in at least one run, Paul Myro IV starting things off with a single to left field. JP Hefft would score two runs off his double, driving in Panaro and Paul Myro IV. Kryszczuck rounded out the scoring in the ninth by batting a second time to push a two-RBI single to left field.
- After UCR inched closer in the third, Seeger would keep the 11-run gap in the third inning strong with a double to left-center field that scored Panaro.
- After Parker Schmidt's contact with the ball dislodged the defender enough to drive in Kryszczuck in the fourth inning, the Rebels tallied their 16th run of the game in the fifth after Hefft's double through the right side.
 - Pierce Kingston would close out the game and ice the run rule on a quick set of three batters, striking out the first two by swinging and the third being a one-pitch fly out to left field.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Scarlet & Gray's 16 runs marked the second time this season the team has had 16 or more in a single game, the last time being their 23-5 win over San Jose State.
- Kryszczuk's long ball in the bottom of the second inning marked his 10th of the season, the second Rebel batter to hit the double-digit mark. His five RBI would also mark a season-high.
- Seeger's four RBI noted a season-high total for the senior, tying his career-high as a collegiate student-athlete.
- Zander Bretza's solo inning of relief on the mound was the second time this season the redshirt freshman has had a shutout outing, facing only four at bats in the contest.
- UNLV's streak of 194-consecutive games of scoring at least one run in a contest continues, a streak stretching back to the 2021 season.
