LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball program has received a signed commitment from Naas Cunningham to join the Runnin' Rebels for the 2025-26 season, head coach
Josh Pastner announced Friday.
Cunningham, a 6-foot-7-inch forward from West Orange, New Jersey, is transferring from Alabama where he redshirted during the 2024-25 season.
"We are excited to welcome Naas to the Runnin' Rebel family," Pastner said. "He brings a unique combination of length and elite athletic ability, allowing him to be a great defender who can guard all positions on the floor. He is a good rebounder and his unlimited potential will make him a valuable asset to our program."
Cunningham, a former five-star recruit, was the No. 43-ranked overall player in the country in the class of 2024 by 247Sports, No. 50 by On3 and No. 62 by ESPN. Additionally, he was recognized as the No. 15 small forward coming out of high school.
He averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for Rolling Loud in Overtime Elite and he also played for the NY Renaissance program on the Nike EYBL Circuit just prior to his junior year of high school, averaging 11.6 points per game.
Cunningham was named one of 16 finalists for the 2021 USA U16 National Team and in 2022 was rated as the No. 1 overall recruit in ESPN's class of 2024.
Cunningham joins Mason Abittan, Ladji Dembele, Howie Fleming Jr., Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn, Al Green, Tyrin Jones, Emmanuel Stephen and Issac Williamson as incoming players to the Runnin' Rebel program for the 2025-26 season.
James Evans Jr. and
Jacob Bannarbie have also committed to return to the program from last season's roster.
