Little Sweeps First Career Mountain West Monthly Awards

The freshman helped the Rebels to two team wins with two top-8 finishes in September, including her first career victory at the Ben Connell Ram Classic

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's golf's Kuree Little was named the Mountain West Women's Golfer and Freshman of the Month, the league office announced Thursday. These are her first career Mountain West weekly or monthly awards and the first received by a Rebel this season.

Originally from Palmdale, California, Little led the Rebels to wins in their first two tournaments of the fall at UNM's Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational and Colorado State's Ben Connell Ram Classic. Across those events, she posted a 69.83 scoring average, two top-8 finishes, five par-or-better rounds and three rounds in the 60s.

At the Ram Classic, Little picked up her first career victory by a six-shot margin over the runners-up in just her second collegiate event, shooting a 12-under 204 as the Rebels swept the individual and team titles. After logging a first-round 1-under 71, she tallied a second-round 5-under 67 and a bogey-free 6-under 66 final round on her way to the program's second-lowest tournament score by a freshman.

In her debut, Little tied for eighth at the Dick McGuire Invitational, finishing at 1-under 215 through 54 holes. At the UNM event, she carded a 3-under 69 in her first collegiate round, an even-par 72 in the second round and a final-round 2-over 74.

Her performances were part of the Scarlet & Gray program's historic start as it notched back-to-back team victories to start a season for the first time in school history.

UP NEXT: The Rebels return to action in Colorado at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate being held at University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch from Oct. 2-4.
