Rebels Continue Historic Start With Third Straight Win In Denver

UNLV stays undefeated through its first three tournaments for the first time in the program's 25 years

DENVER (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's golf team started the season undefeated through the first three tournaments for the first time in the program's 25 years after capturing its third straight team title Sunday at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate at University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch (Par 72, 6,620,yards).

RON MOORE INTERCOLLEGIATE CHAMPIONS: As a team, the Rebels finished at 6-under 858 for the tournament for a one-shot win over runner-up Xavier (-5). In spite of a 6-under final-round rally by the Musketeers, the Rebels overcame a 2-over day behind a bogey-free 18th hole with three birdies in the team score - four overall - and used a nine-shot cushion over the runners-up entering the day to secure the victory.

REBEL FINISH: Junior Amber Chen and sophomore Demi Du carried the Scarlet & Gray past the finish line with their par-or-better scorecards in the final round. Chen provided her best round of the weekend with a 3-under 69, which included a bogey-free back nine, and Du provided an even-par 72 to give herself par-or-better scorecards in all three rounds. Additionally, Chen, Du and senior Zi Yu Foong each dropped in birdies on their final hole.

REBEL ROUNDUP: Leading the Rebels' pair of top-10 finishes, Du tallied a career-best, tied-for-fourth finish and a career-low 54-hole score with a 5-under 211. Chen added the other top-10 effort, tying for seventh at 4-under 212. A third top-25 finish came from Foong (+2), who placed 25th. Also finishing the tournament, sophomore Lana Yamagata (+11) tied for 55th and freshman Addison Hines (+16) tied for 73rd.

INDIVIDUAL CHAMPION: Xavier's Isabel Brozena and Tulane's Isabel Brozena shared co-medalist honors at 7-under 209 for the tournament.

QUOTABLE: "Winning never gets old. Bringing home a trophy in our first three events of the fall is a testament to how hard these women have worked and how unified we are as a team. The momentum is real, and we're just getting started. Go Rebels!"
-UNLV Head Coach Amy Bush-Herzer

UP NEXT: UNLV will close its fall tournament schedule at the Jim West Challenge scheduled for Oct. 18-19.

NOTES:
  • After the victory, UNLV has now claimed the team title at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate twice in the past three seasons. The last time was during the 2024-25 campaign
  • In addition to making history, this was also the Rebels' fifth victory in their last seven tournaments. That string of first-place team performances include the squad's recent Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational and Ben Connell Ram Classic this fall, as well as the 2026 Mountain West Championship and the Jackrabbits Invitational this past spring.
  • Along with that, the Scarlet & Gray has now won the team title in four of its past five regular season tournaments.
  • This marked UNLV's 18th team victory under head coach Amy Bush-Herzer, who is in her 16th season at the helm of the UNLV women's golf program.
