LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -- The UNLV men's tennis team will host the annual Larry Easley Memorial Classic starting Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.
Â
UNLV is hosting singles and doubles players from two other programs – Idaho State and Utah State – through Sunday. Action starts at 10 a.m. and admission is free of charge for one round of doubles and one round of singles each day.
Â
Six Rebels will be taking part this fall in both singles and doubles. Top UNLV player Marko Maksimovic, meanwhile, will be in Arizona on Thursday playing in the first round of the ITA Sectional Championship on the campus of Arizona State.
Â
The annual event was renamed in 2010 in honor of UNLV Hall of Famer Larry Easley, who passed away from illness in 2005 at the age of 57. Easley coached the UNLV men's tennis team longer than anyone in history and produced sometimes-spectacular results over his dozen seasons from 1993-2002, including producing five All-Americans and two NCAA individual champions.
