ALBUQUERQUE (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team aced its first road test of the season by downing New Mexico 4-1 to open Mountain West play on a windy Friday the 13th at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
The Rebels improved to 8-2 with their fifth straight win while the Lobos fell to 9-5.
UNLV continued to dominate in doubles, remaining undefeated in securing the opening point in 2026.
Eszter Kis-Czako and
Veronika Kliuch won 6-1 at the No. 2 spot over Lea Malazdra and Ana Veroux before
Hudson Hawkins and
Nikol Mircheva emerged 6-3 at the top position over Yu Yun Kathy Tsai and Bente Vandeputte to clinch it.
In singles play, after the Lobos got on the board with a quick win at No. 4, Kliuch downed Vandeputte, 6-1, 7-5, at the top of the lineup;
Kaho Oyama finished off Lea Malazdra, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 5; and
Sofiia Sokolvak ended things with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Marika Matsoukatidi on court six.

Veronika Kliuch, contributed to a quick doubles win and then notched her 13th straight singles win to improve to 17-2 overall and 10-0 in dual matches.
