LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Eric Frazzetta has been hired as an assistant coach for the UNLV men's golf program, head coach Andres Gonzales announced Monday.
"Coach Frazzetta brings in a breadth of knowledge to UNLV," said Gonzales. "He joins the Rebel golf program with a deep understanding of our culture and expectations. I'm excited to learn from his past experiences, as well as work alongside him to bring a national championship back to UNLV."
Frazzetta comes to Las Vegas after serving in the same role at Cal Poly for three seasons (2023-26) under Philip Rowe, who was a Rebel assistant coach (2014-2020) under legendary coach Dwaine Knight. During his stint at CP, he helped guide the Mustangs to back-to-back top-3 Big West Championship finishes (2024-26), including their best finish in 10 years as runner-up this past season, five top-3 team finishes and nine top-5 team performances.
"A big thank you to Coach Gonzales for giving me the opportunity to continue the tradition at UNLV of creating champions and competing for championships," said Frazzetta. "It was a privilege to work at Cal Poly under Philip Rowe, who was entrenched in the legacy of UNLV during his time here under Dwaine Knight. I bring the experiences I gained there to further carry on the rich tradition of Rebel golf."
Before Cal Poly, Frazzetta spent two seasons (2021-23) as the head coach of the men's and women's golf programs at Holy Names University in Oakland, California. During that span, he was named the 2022-23 Pacific West Conference Women's Coach of the Year after leading the women's golf program to the PacWest Championship and a berth in the NCAA West/South Super Regional in Dallas. Additionally, the Hawk women took third at the conference championship in 2022, while the men notched back-to-back third-place outings and an NCAA Regional berth (2023) before the university ceased operations.
Frazzetta also spent time as an assistant coach at Sonoma State from 2018-20, working with the men's program for two years (2018-20) and later assisting with the women's program (2020-21). His tenure at Sonoma State saw him play a key role in guiding the team to consecutive NCAA Division II Championship berths, as well as developing two All-Americans and eight Academic All-Americans.
Before joining the Seawolves' coaching staff, Frazzetta played professionally on various mini tours around the world. During his five-year professional career, he traveled to 23 states and three different countries, playing on the Mackenzie Tour in Canada as well as the China Tour in 2015. Frazzetta made the cut in two of six career events across the two tours combined.
Originally from Long Beach, California, Frazzetta played collegiate golf at Chico State (2008-12), where he captured both All-American and Academic All-American accolades and helped lead the team to third-place and runner-up finishes at the national championships.
Frazzetta, who worked as a caddy for Michael Kim on the PGA Tour for two years and at The Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles (2014-16), graduated from Chico State with his bachelor's degree in business finance with a minor in accounting in 2012. He and his wife Nicole have a daughter, Lily, and a son, Eli.
