LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV cross country turned in a commanding performance on Friday morning, sweeping the top five scoring positions to win the Duel in the Desert at Floyd Lamb Park. The victory marked UNLV's first home meet of the 2026 season, and the first since the spring 2021 season.
The Rebels finished with 15 points, well ahead of College of Southern Nevada (70), Soka (72) and Nevada State (78) in the women's 5K. Freshman Anya Gorely led the way for the Scarlet and Gray, winning the individual race in 18:36.1. Fellow freshman Peyton Pilling followed closely behind, crossing the finish line second overall in 18:58.4. Junior Breanna Blanks was third in 19:07.7. Senior Alana Sangprasit added another top-five finish for the Rebels, placing fourth in 19:31.1, while sophomore Kenley Gowdy completed UNLV's scoring five with a fifth-place time of 20:02.8. Gowdy finished just one-tenth of a second behind Nevada State's Julianna Ondrisko.
Junior Ruby Lorenz finished eighth in 20:28.6, while freshman Frankie Scotello was 11th in 20:37.1. Sophomore Reese LeBaron placed 13th in 21:10.4, followed by freshman Katelyn Johnson in 16th at 21:40.7. Sophomore Janaé Sanders rounded out the Rebel contingent, finishing 29th in 24:49.
