2008-09 (Sophomore): The 200 free individual MWC champion, as he swam a time of 1:36.46, third-fastest in team history ... placed third in the 100 free in 44.15, and finished in a tie for fifth in the 50 free with teammate Calan Eldridge (20.03) ... led off the MWC-setting 400 and 800 free relays. 2007-08 (Freshman): Swam to a ninth-place finish in the 100 fly at the MWC meet (49.12) ... finished 17th in the 100 free (46.72) and 22nd in the 200 IM (1:54.17).

High School: Three-year letterwinner for the Miners, where he helped them to three second-place finishes ... broke school record in the 200 IM and 100 fly, while being named a 2007 All-American ... also played water polo for a season.

Club: Swam three years for the Penguin Swim Team in Nevada City, Calif. ... was a sectional finalist for them in the fly and IM.

Personal: Kyle Martindale Virva ... born on July 22, 1989, in Beaumont, Texas ... son of Diane Virva ... has one brother, Dillon (17) ... enjoys to snow board, fly fish, and draw .... started swimming only three years ago ... majoring in earth science.
