LAS VEGAS - Jerry Koloskie, UNLV's Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and
Operations, has been named chairperson for the National Athletic Trainer's Association's
(NATA) Public Relations Committee.
Koloskie has served as the Public Relations Chairperson for District VIII (California,
Nevada and Hawaii) of NATA since 1993 and has been a National Public Relations Committee
member since 1994.
The focus of the Public Relations Committee is to create awareness among the general
public on the benefits that certified athletic trainers bring to the health and well-being
of physically active people. Its responsibility also is to challenge the membership, which
is 22,700 people nationwide, to promote the profession by being active spokespeople to all audiences regarding athletic training topics.
Koloskie will replace Kevin O'Neill, the head athletic trainer for the Miami Dolphins,
who served as the chair for the past 10 years.
Koloskie will assume the chair position at the 49th NATA Annual Meeting and Clinical
Symposia in Baltimore, Md., June 17-20.
