LAS VEGAS - UNLV Associate Athletics Director David Chambers is resigning from his position, the school
announced Tuesday.
Chambers, 36, will work on campus through May 15 before pursuing other opportunities in
intercollegiate athletics in the areas of consulting and sports law.
"I am grateful for the experiences I've had here over the past six academic years," Chambers
said. "This athletic department has many great things ahead for its coaches and
student-athletes. I wish UNLV much success."
Chambers, who joined UNLV in June 1992 as Director of NCAA Legislative Compliance,
was named Associate AD on July 1, 1993. He currently oversees the day-to-day operations
of football and men's and women's basketball. He also supervises the department's three
assistant athletics directors who oversee the 16 Rebel athletic programs.
"I am sorry to see David go," UNLV Director of Athletics Charles Cavagnaro said. "At the
same time, I certainly understand and respect his decision and fully support him as his
career moves forward."
A 1983 graduate of the University of Iowa, Chambers was a two-year letterman for the Hawkeye
football team. He received his law degree from Wake Forest University in 1989 and soon
joined the NCAA as a legislative assistant before moving to Las Vegas.
