Athletic Director Charles Cavagnaro has announced the reorganization plans for the senior
staff of the UNLV athletic department. The restructuring was necessary after the departure
of Associate Athletic Director David Chambers, who resigned April 28 after six years at UNLV.
Assuming the duties of acting Senior Associate Athletic Director is Jerry Koloskie, a member
of the UNLV athletic department for the past 16 years. Koloskie will be directly responsible
for all duties involved with men's and women's basketball, as well as oversee Assistant
Athletic Directors Tom Gabbard and Lisa Kelleher. Says Cavagnaro, "We're very fortunate to
have someone of Jerry's expertise and ability. He has the best feeling for UNLV and the
athletic program as anyone I've been around."
Koloskie has been a member of the UNLV athletic staff for the past 16 years and previously
held the title of Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Operations. He will
assume the acting Associate Athletic Director role immediately. Says Koloskie, "I appreciate
Charlie providing me with this opportunity. Certainly, to have been at UNLV for this many
years and to have worked my way through the ranks makes this privilege even more special. I
look forward to the challenge and to continuing to help the most important part of this
program, our student-athletes."
Both Gabbard and Kelleher also see a change in their day-to-day duties. Gabbard will provide
liaison duties for the sports of football, men's and women's tennis and golf, while Kelleher
will concentrate on the remaining Olympic sports of softball, baseball, men's and women's
soccer, track and field, men's and women's swimming and volleyball. Both will also play a
more active role in the fundraising and marketing opportunities that pertain to their
respective sports. Jim Bolla, Director of Development for the athletic department, will
direct the fundraising efforts.
Rob Philippi, Director of NCAA Compliance, and Wendy Myers, Director of Business Affairs will
also have expanded roles under this new restructuring.
"The staff is excited and looking forward to the changes and additions in responsibilities that
comes with this streamlining of the department," states Cavagnaro.
