LAS VEGAS - UNLV Athletics Director Mike Hamrick has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee, immediately replacing New Mexico A.D. Rudy Davalos on the board, the NCAA confirmed Thursday.

Hamrick will serve on the committee for a three-year period with his term expiring in September of 2006.

The committee, which determines the field for the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, is chaired by Charles L. Carr, peer reviewer and senior associate athletics director at Florida State University.

Other committee members include Skip Bertman, athletics director at Louisiana State University, Robert V. Todd, head baseball coach at Ohio State University, Robert Staub, senior associate athletics director at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Robert A. Steitz, senior associate athletics director at Villanova University, Brian Colleary, athletics director at Duquesne University, Bill Rowe Jr., athletics director at Southwest Missouri State University, Michael Gaski, head baseball coach at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Chris Monasch, commissioner at the America East Conference.

While the athletics director at East Carolina University, Hamrick oversaw a baseball program that made five consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament and earned the region's No. 1 seed three times during that span.

The committee is made up of 10 members, including six Division I-A representatives and four Division I-AA or I-AAA representatives. One member represents each of the eight Division I baseball regions (East, Northeast, Atlantic, South, Central, Mideast, Midwest, West) and two are selected at large.
