LAS VEGAS -
The three-year-old UNLV athletics web site www.unlvrebels.com was re-launched Monday with an updated look and additional features to best serve fans and media interested in the Rebels.
Originally launched in November 1997, unlvrebels.com has steadily expanded in both content and usership but now boasts a new graphic design that elevates it to among the leaders in the industry.
As one of more than 50 universities that make up membership of the FANSonly Network, which is owned by Student Advantage, Inc., UNLV was chosen to be the first such site to feature a full-screen display that allows for a cleaner, brighter and more sophisticated design.
The updated unlvrebels.com is highlighted by a masthead that includes a graphic of the newly renovated Thomas & Mack Center, an image that can transform from night into day with the swipe of your mouse.
Additional changes include the activation of an interactive fan poll on the front page and a "Rebels in the News" section that lets fans read recent feature articles published about all of the school's 16 varsity sports.
Other recent additions include online shopping at the Rebel FANStore, an opportunity to sign up for a free personalized unlvrebels.com e-mail address and the ability to hear the UNLV band's versions of songs such as "Runnin' Rebel Fever" as well as the school's fight song and alma mater.
"UNLV's redesigned web site puts the school on the cutting edge of college athletics on the Internet," FANSonly managing editor Brett Lowder said. "The site has steadily gained users every year since its inception and the new look and added features will only help raise traffic even higher."
