LAS VEGAS - UNLV has three student-athletes that were named to the 1999 GTE Academic All-District VIII
Spring At-Large team, which was selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of
America).
Jeremy Anderson from men's golf, Asaf Tishler from men's tennis and Susie Kocsis from women's
tennis were UNLV's selections to the respective men's and women's teams.
Ten student-athletes representing nine schools from the western United States were selected
to the Men's University Division Spring At-Large GTE Academic All-District VIII team, while
12 student-athletes from eight schools make up the women's team. The teams were selected by
CoSIDA members in the district. Each member of the team will now represent the district -
which is comprised of schools in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon,
Utah, Washington and British Columbia - on the GTE Academic All-America ballot.
UNLV is the only school with more than one representative on the men's team, while Anderson
is a repeat selection as he went on to be selected to the 1998 GTE Academic All-America team.
To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must carry a grade point
average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must be in at least their second year of
participation at the school and must be an important squad contributor.
