The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas has seven (7) graduate internship positions within the athletic training staff each year. Six (6) of the graduate internship positions will be assigned positions within the intercollegiate athletic training program. One (1) position will be assigned within the UNLV Student Health Center. These positions rotate each semester. Interns must pursue a Master's degree within the graduate college at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Masters degrees in exercise physiology and kinesiology are available through the Kinesiology Department.
Qualifications:
You must show evidence of two years of successful service as a student athletic trainer with a broad range of clinical experience in all sports. Clinical hours must be obtained under the supervision of a NATABOC certified athletic trainer.
You must obtain a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum undergraduate G.P.A. of 2.75 on a 4-point scale.
You must be NATABOC certified or eligible for certification.
You must have minimum 1000 on the GRE.
Responsibilities:
Sport Responsibilities: Daily medical coverage of assigned UNLV sport(s) / UNLV Intramural Program / UNLV Student Health Center during the fall and spring semesters. Team travel with assigned UNLV sport(s) during the fall and spring semesters.
The graduate internship positions will be assigned to the following sports:
M/W Soccer
M/W Swimming
M/W Tennis
Women's Cross Country and Track
Football and Volleyball
Assist with the drug testing programs, assist with educational programs, and assist in supervision, instruction and evaluation of athletic training students. Coordinate daily medical practice coverage and travel with athletic training students. Responsible for medical documentation of all evaluations, treatments, rehabilitations, and referrals. Participate in community service programs as assigned by the UNLV Director of Athletic Training.

These materials should be submitted no later than February 1st of each year. Selections will be made on or before April 1st of each year. Contracts will start July 1st of each year. These are two-year appointments.
***Please note that the application process for the Graduate Internship in Athletic Training takes place during the spring semester. The application process for admission is competitive and merely completing the application process does not guarantee an internship position within Athletic Training.
