LAS VEGAS -
Several media guides and posters produced by UNLV athletics received national awards at the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) convention held last week in Calgary, Alberta.
The 2003 UNLV football team schedule poster "A Rebel Town," designed by the department's graphic arts coordinator Paul Palmer, was named second in the nation regardless of sport. Also, the Rebel women's volleyball poster, designed by Palmer and former UNLV assistant SID Brian Albertson, was voted seventh in the nation overall.
The 2003 UNLV football media guide, produced by associate director for sports information Mark Wallington and assistant SID Kevin Force, finished first in its district and a school-record-high seventh in the nation.
Also, Wallington's 2004 men's and women's tennis guide came in third nationally among multi-sport guides. UNLV's district is made up of schools from the states of California, Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Idaho and Nevada.
In addition, Palmer and Megan Cifala's design for the 2004 Runnin' Rebel Pack the Mack event won the award for best promotional T-shirt from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) at that group's annual convention in Dallas last month.
