What is CHAMPS?
NCAA rules require the UNLV Athletics Department to conduct NCAA Champs/Life Skills programs on campus for all student-athletes, first year student-athlete are required to participate in the athletic department's CHAMPS/Life Skills programming that will be held every Monday evening. All continuing student-athletes will participate in community service projects and other activities throughout the remainder of the enrollment
The mission of the NCAA & UNLV is to maintain intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the campus educational program and the athlete as an integral part of the student body. With this in mind, the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program was created to support the student development initiatives of its member institutions and to enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience within the university setting. Successful participants will earn a CHAMPS Certificate for having completed five (5) student-athlete development criteria in the following areas: academics, athletics, personal development, career development and community service.
