The UNLV men's tennis, men's swimming, women's tennis and softball teams were recipients of UNLV Athletics' team academic awards for the 1999-00 academic year Friday.
The awards, which were handed out at the UNLV Athletic Department Presidential Welcome Breakfast at the Lied Athletic Complex, recognized the achievements of teams with the highest grade point averages.
Men's tennis, coached by Larry Easley, received the award for the highest men's team GPA at UNLV with a 3.40. Easley's squad was also recognized as recording the highest-ever men's GPA at UNLV for an academic year.
Men's swimming, coached by Jim Reitz, won most improved GPA for men's teams with a 3.04.
Women's tennis, coached by Kevin Cory, earned the highest women's team GPA with a 3.30, and softball, coached by Shan McDonald, won most improved GPA for women's teams with a 3.29.
