LAS VEGAS -
The UNLV Athletics Department will host a reception for the campus community to honor its Sydney 2000 Olympians on Thursday, October 19 at 2 p.m. in the Moyer Student Union (room 202) on campus.
A short program will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Director of Athletics Charles Cavagnaro addressing the group.
Scheduled to attend are:
* Karen Dennis (USA Track & Field Head Coach/UNLV track & field/cross country head coach)
* Lorena Diaconescu (Romanian swimmer/UNLV junior)
* Lori Harrigan (two-time USA Softball gold medallist/former UNLV pitcher)
* Ayanna Hutchinson (Trinidad & Tobago track & field/former UNLV sprinter)
* Andrew Livingston (Puerto Rican swimmer/UNLV junior)
* Mike Mintenko (Canadian swimmer/former UNLV swimmer)
* Jacint Simon (Hungarian swimmer/UNLV junior)
Three other Olympians with UNLV ties are unable to attend. They are:
* Mark Dickel (New Zealand basketball player/former Runnin' Rebel)
* Tista Perri (Italian baseball player/former UNLV pitcher)
* Alicia Tyson (Trinidad & Tobago track & field/former UNLV sprinter).
