LAS VEGAS - Two UNLV students will be honored with the Dr. Gerald Higgins Athletic Training Student Scholarship Award after the first quarter of Saturday's football game between the Rebels and Colorado State.

Presented annually for the past 12 years to the most outstanding UNLV athletic training students, the Higgins Scholarship was made possible by the UNLV Hall of Fame team physician it was named after. The presentation will be made by Higgins, senior associate athletics director Jerry Koloskie and director of athletic training Kyle Wilson.

The first recipient of this year's scholarship is Amy Reckard. A senior from Fort Lupton, Colo., with an overall UNLV grade point average of 3.4, Reckard has worked as an athletic training student with the UNLV football, cross country, track and field, softball and this semester with the Rebel men's soccer program.

The second recipient is David Baca, who has worked as an athletic training student with UNLV football, swimming and diving and women's soccer. This past summer he was selected as an athletic training intern with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. A senior from Henderson, Nev., Baca boasts a career UNLV GPA of 4.0.
