Eric Toliver
Assistant Athletics Director For Compliance
Eric Toliver, 32, begins his third year as the Assistant Athletics Director
for Compliance & Student Services after taking over the Director of NCAA
Compliance duties midway through the 1998-99 school year.
Toliver's responsibilities include conduction of investigations and ensuring
that UNLV's 17 Division I sports remain in compliance with NCAA regulations
governing recruiting, practice & playing seasons, benefits, amateurism and
various athletic related monitoring systems.
Prior to his position, from 1996-1998, Toliver was an athletic academic
advisor overseeing the Rebel football and women's basketball programs. In
addition to his duties advising student athletes, he coordinated and
monitored study tables and tutoring. Toliver began his UNLV career as a
student development counselor in 1993. In that capacity, he was responsible
for advising the special & exploring/undecided students and monitoring the
tutoring program.
Toliver also coordinates the annual UNLV Student-Athlete Career Fair, the
Student-Athlete Advisory Board and the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program, which
provides educational functions for all student-athletes through community
and outreach projects. This year, he implemented the department's IMPACT
Program (Impacting, Mentoring and Preparing Future Athletes for the Choices
of Today), which promotes interaction between UNLV's student-athletes and
students in elementary and middle schools in the Las Vegas area.
In 1990, he received his bachelor's degree in sociology and law enforcement
from Western State College in Gunnison, Colo. He was a four-year
letterwinner in football and indoor and outdoor track and field for the
Mountaineers, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 400 meters,
4x100 and 4x400 and becoming an All-American in the 4x400. He also was
honored as a First Team Al-Defense Small Colleges of Colorado selection in
1990.
Toliver, who is currently working on his master's degree in educational
psychology at UNLV, resides in Henderson and is single.
