LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The 37th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost only one set in shutting out unranked Nevada, Reno, 9-0, Saturday, at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Lady Rebels (2-0) had trouble only at the No. 1 singles position where Susie Kocsis outlasted Leanne Mattland, 7-5, 1-6, 6-4. UNLV's other winners in singles were Gee Gee Garvin, Veronica Goude, Lisa Annebro, Marcella Valkenhoff and Marie Linusson.
The Lady Rebels then took all three doubles points. Goude and Britta Gabl teamed for a win at No. 1 while Annebro and Valkenhoff and then Linusson and Jelena Kocergin paired up for wins.
UNLV finishes out the weekend by hosting New Mexico State (2-0) Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
