Our Mission
UNLV Sport Psychology is an extension of
UNLV Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). The department consists of mental health providers that work exclusively with UNLV student-athletes and are directly embedded in the UNLV Athletics Department.
Our mission is to support UNLV student-athletes in their pursuit of personal and performance excellence. We strive to aid in the ongoing development of the best UNLV student-athlete experience possible. Essential to our practice is respect for individual differences, as evidenced through cultural empathy, advocacy for traditionally oppressed cultural groups, awareness of our own culture and bias, and clinical conceptualizations and treatment interventions that take into consideration the role of sociocultural background in the experience of psychological health and wellness.
