Nick Rush

Nick Rush enters his fourth season with the Rebels, being promoted after the 2024 season to the Director of Operations and Assistant Coach after serving as a graduate student-manager at UNLV two years prior, originally joining the staff in August 2022. 

The 2025 campaign saw UNLV punch its first trip to the MW Tournament since 2022 as they earned the No. 4 seed with a 31-23 ledger (16-14 MW). That squad was also recognized with four All-MW honorees in Dean Toigo (MW Co-Player of the Year), Carson Lane (First Team), Cole Koniarsky (Second Team) and LJ Mercurius (Second Team), the most the team saw since the 2022 season when they were awarded seven honorees. Toigo was selected as an ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region First Team member, where the outfielder/first baseman hit .377 with 83 hits, 18 home runs and 74 RBI along with a slugging percentage of .682, an on-base percentage of .445 and an OPS of 1.127.

During his second season in 2024, Rush and the Hustlin' Rebels coaches three All-Mountain West honorees in First Team honorees Austin Cates and Austin Kryszczuk, along with Second Team honoree Rylan Charles. Additionally, Rush and company saw Cates get drafted in the 7th round of MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, while Kryszczuk was named an ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region First Team member.

Rush's debut season in 2023 saw Rebel catcher Jacob Sharp being taken by the Seattle Mariners in the the 17th round of the 2023 MLB Draft.

Before his time at UNLV, the Las Vegas native served as a coach for his alma mater Liberty High School for the varsity baseball team from 2017-20. The 2015 Liberty High School graduate signed with Western Nevada to play second base at the junior college level, but after suffering from a back injury in late 2015 he took a year off to coach the junior varsity baseball team at Liberty during the spring season of 2016. Rush then signed to play for Chandler-Gilbert Community College for the 2016-17 season where he played 13 games, totaled 33 at bats, recorded six hits, two doubles, one triple and scored five runs.
