Former Mountain West rival player and coach Zack Warren has been hired as UNLV men's tennis assistant, Rebels' head coach Owen Hambrook announced in August.

"Zack comes to UNLV with a lot of experience and knowledge," Hambrook said. "His character, work ethic and passion will play a big part in our future success."

Warren comes to Las Vegas after one season as the volunteer assistant coach at Cal of the Pac-12 Conference. He moved to Berkeley after three seasons as assistant coach at former league-rival BYU where he was named the 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mountain Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Warren helped the Cougars to a pair of MW regular-season titles (2010 and 2011) and a league tournament championship in 2011. During his stay in Provo, the Cougars made their first appearance in the nation's top 25 in more than three decades in 2010.

Warren played tennis for BYU for two seasons (2004-05 and 2005-06) and also spent one year s the team's manager. He is a veteran camp instructor at his alma mater and served as Camp Director at Rolling Hills Club in his hometown of Novato, Calif.

Warren earned his bachelor's degree in communications and is married to former BYU track All-American Angela Warren.
