Steve Wood will be starting his third season as assistant coach with the Rebel swimming and diving program after being hired in June of 2018.
Wood has has several roles at UNLV, and most recently was the primary coach for the middle distance group, which saw marked improvement at the MW and WAC conference championships including numerous podium finishes as well as representation at the NIC meet.
Wood came to Las Vegas after spending two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Florida State helping with all groups. Previous to Florida State he also was on the DePauw University staff for a year. Wood also spent three years as the head coach of the Francis Howell high school swimming and diving team for both the boys’ and girls’ seasons and was also was an assistant coach for the Rex-Plex Sharks club team.
Wood is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale where he earned a Bachelor of Science in sports administration and a minor in coaching. Wood also swam four years at SIUC where he was captain and second team All-Conference in his final two seasons.
