UNLV women’s tennis head coach Tania Luzhanska announced the hiring of Jose Bendeck to her first staff of the Mountain West’s winningest program in September 2024.
Bendeck, a former standout collegiate and pro player, came to Las Vegas after serving as a graduate assistant coach at the University of West Alabama. Also an assistant pro at Devon Yacht Club in Amagansett, New York, he is a certified Professional Tennis Registry Coach.
A native of Colombia, Bendeck rose in the ATP world rankings to as high as No. 481 in doubles and 1,039 in singles. He turned pro after an honor-filled career at the University of Idaho from 2011-14. Bendeck was named the 2014 WAC Player of the Year after finishing his career second in Vandal history with 88 singles victories. He was a First-Team All-WAC honoree in singles as a senior, a second-teamer in both singles and doubles as a junior and first-team honoree in doubles as a sophomore.
“I am excited to have Jose join our staff,” said Luzhanska. “He is an up-and-coming coach and his impressive playing career on the court will help make him an invaluable asset to the program.”
