He later qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in both 1992 and 1996 and competed in six consecutive TAC/USATF Championships during his professional career.

Miller arrives in Las Vegas with extensive experience coaching, mentoring and developing athletes across multiple levels. His professional background includes 40 years in track and field, six years competing and training professionally, and skill specialties spanning biomechanics, speed development, vertical and horizontal jumps development, as well as and program-building strategies. In addition to his coaching expertise, Miller has held numerous leadership roles within USA Track & Field, including service as USATF Nevada Youth Chair and Region 15 Coordinator, West Zone Representative, member of the USATF Youth Executive Committee Board and currently as President of USATF Nevada. His long-standing involvement in athlete and program development at the regional and national level has made him a respected figure in the sport.

Miller also brings a wide-ranging professional background outside of athletics, including more than 30 years of leadership roles in the Las Vegas resort security sector, where he specialized in staff development, training, and operations management — skills that translate directly into team culture and athlete support.

A native of St. James, Miller graduated from Barton County College, the University of Nevada, Reno, and the MGM University Leadership Program. Throughout his athletic career, he earned multiple honors, including three Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Month awards and a Mandalay Resorts Group Employee of the Year recognition. Miller will begin working with the Rebels immediately as UNLV prepares for the upcoming indoor season.
