Eric Nepomuceno, a native of Queens, New York, began working in the UNLV Athletics Compliance Office in May of 2018. Nepomuceno was promoted to Deputy Athletics Director, Chief Operating Officer in March 2022 and then Senior Deputy Athletics Director in July 2024. He has oversight of all internal administration, including the department’s strategic planning initiatives. Nepomuceno continues to manage the operations of UNLV Athletics' compliance program, including rules education, enforcement issues, investigations, and provides supervision of the athletics department's policies and procedures.Â
In addition, Nepomuceno is the primary liaison to the Office of General Counsel and assists with the management of all legal affairs for athletics. In this capacity, he is responsible for game contracts, coaches’ contracts, vendor purchases, and provides support for public records requests, the Allegiant Stadium joint use agreement, as well as other ad hoc legal matters. Nepomuceno also serves as the sport administrator for the UNLV Football program, including responsibilities for game scheduling, personnel management, and budget oversight. Another core area that Nepomuceno oversees is Sports Performance which includes: athletic training, strength and conditioning, nutrition, sports science, and sports psychology.

In Spring 2020, he was the instructor for the Sports Law course in the UNLV Higher Education graduate program, which had an emphasis on the influence and history of quintessential sport legal cases and their impact on the intercollegiate athletics landscape. Nepomuceno has served on the Board of Directors for the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC). He previously was a member of the NAAC Professional Development Committee and has also served as the Compliance Chair for the Mountain West Conference (MWC) and was a member of the MWC Strategic Planning Committee.
Nepomuceno continues to lead the university’s Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) educational platform entitled The Vegas Effect. In the Winter of 2021, he was nominated and selected to serve on a State of Nevada Assembly Committee, which conducted an interim study concerning the use of NIL of a student-athlete surrounding the 2021 legislature enacted Assembly Bill 254. Nepomuceno was also selected to speak as a panelist at the American Bar Association: 45th Annual Conference of the Forum on the Entertainment & Sports Industries regarding Name, Image and Likeness.

Furthermore, he serves as a member of the athletics department's senior executive staff, executive staff, and senior staff, as well as the budget oversight committee, drug testing committee, scholarship committee, and Alston committee. He also serves on the UNLV Compliance Advisory Council. Nepomuceno is currently a sitting member of the NCAA Interpretations Committee and completed a four-year term on the NCAA Division I Initial Eligibility Waivers Committee.

Nepomuceno came to Las Vegas after six years at Northeastern University, where he served as associate athletics director for compliance and enrollment services. Prior to his time working for the Huskies, he spent three years as the coordinator of eligibility and recruiting at Stony Brook University. He has also worked in compliance at Queens College, worked at the National Football League and served as a pro personnel assistant for the NFL's New York Jets.

Nepomuceno graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in sports management and communication and then earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Law School in New Orleans. He currently resides in the Southern Highlands area with his wife Marka, and three sons: Lucas, Aaron, and Nolan.
