Gary Plumlee first joined the UNLV Athletic Department in 2001 after 31 years in the broadcast industry, as the Director of VIP Services responsible for the Club Seats Sales and Suites at Sam Boyd Stadium and the Thomas & Mack. In 2010 Gary accepted a position with the Rebel Athletic Fund (RAF) as a Senior Director of Development for Major Gifts. His  experience and contacts in Las Vegas helped the RAF Team secure major gifts for UNLV Athletic projects such as the Loyalty Circle, Fertitta Football Complex, Suites, Club Seats, V-VIP Field Club, RAF Golf Tournaments, Suites at Allegiant Stadium just to mention a few.Â
He received his bachelor's degree in marketing and advertising from Fresno State in 1969. Plumlee then started his career with a sales position with KFSN-TV, ABC affiliate in Fresno. In 1984 he transferred to Las Vegas and spent the next 16 years with KTNV-TV 13 (ABC) as the General Sales Manager. During his broadcast career, he was nominated to serve on the ABC Network Sales Advisory Board and was elected to the Television Bureau of Advertising Sales Advisory Board. Plumlee was also inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
He had a successful football career making All-Conference Hartnell Junior College and again at the University of New Mexico while helping the Lobos to three WAC conference titles in a row. He was drafted by the New York Jets in 1965 along with teammate Joe Namath, and would also spend time with the Buffalo Bills organization as well as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League. In 2019 Plumlee was inducted into the Hartnell College Hall of Fame while two years earlier he was inducted into the Salinas Valley Sports Hall of Fame.
Plumlee has three children and five grandchildren all living in Fresno, California. Â He and his wife Annie enjoy living in Las Vegas with their two horses Wayland and Comanche along with their two dogs Toby and Sasha.
