UNLV football officially announced the hiring of Malakai Fifita as Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning under director Tanner Maher on Feb. 19, 2025.
Fifita followed Maher from BYU to UNLV as he spent the previous two seasons with the Cougars as a football strength and conditioning intern. During his time in Provo, he oversaw group training programs for walk-ons and players returning from religious missions and helped lead a team of interns.
Before BYU, Fifita was a football strength and conditioning intern at Washington State in 2023. Across his three months in Pullman, he assisted with offseason and preseason training, multiple training stations during on-field sessions and other day-to-day activities.
Fifita graduated from BYU in 2024 with his bachelor’s degree in exercise science and is an NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist.
