UNLV football head coach Marcus Arroyo completed his on-field staff for 2022 by announcing the addition of Michael Bruno as the Rebels’ new inside linebackers coach in March.

Bruno just completed his fourth season in the Pac-12 Conference working in quality control on the defensive side of the ball at Cal. While working with newly named UNLV defensive coordinator Keith Heyward, he was in charge of all of the defensive breakdowns, opponent scouting and the defensive playbook for the Golden Bears.

"We are proud to announce today the addition of Coach Bruno to our football program,” said Arroyo. “He is a riser in our coaching industry, with seven years Power 5 experience, most recently with Cal and Louisville. He is smart and intense and we can rely upon him to mold our inside linebackers in that same image. He will make a great addition to our staff with his energy and passion. We are pumped to have him!"

Prior to his time in Berkeley, Bruno spent one season at Louisville in 2017 in a defensive quality control role when the Cardinals posted an 8-5 record, reached the TaxSlayer Bowl and employed the nation's No. 14 ranked total defense (322.2 YPG).

In 2016 he was a graduate assistant in the SEC on the defensive side of the ball at Mississippi State when he helped the Bulldogs establish a red zone defense that tied for ninth nationally by holding opponents to 73.3 percent.

Bruno previously spent five seasons from 2011-15 as a nickelback, assistant secondary and assistant special teams coach at Dartmouth. The Big Green won its first Ivy League crown since 1996 in his final campaign in 2015 and compiled a combined 34-16 record during the five-year period.

Bruno began his coaching career with a stint at Division III Worcester Poly (2009-10) as a special teams coordinator while also coaching the running backs, defensive backs and defensive line during his tenure.

The native of Westport, Connecticut, earned his bachelor's degree from Saint Lawrence in 2009 and his master's in teaching from Mississippi State in 2017.
