BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The UNLV men?s soccer overcame dropped its second straight match and third straight on the road with a 2-1 loss to Western Kentucky on Sunday.
The Hilltoppers (9-1-0) took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute, but saw that lead vanish when UNLV?s Geoff Barto (Henderson, NV/Green Valley) scored on a cross from Kevin Lunkwitz (Las Vegas, NV/Cimarron-Memorial) in the 63rd minute.
For the second time on their road trip, the Rebels lost a 1-1 tie late in the match. Western Kentucky scored the game winner on a header with just six minuted to play.
UNLV falls to 5-6-0 on the year. They will enjoy a open weekend before hosting two of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation?s most feared teams. UCLA, ranked No. 3 in the latest Soccer America poll, invades Johann Memorial Stadium on Friday, Oct. 15 with No. 5 Cal State Fullerton to follow on Oct. 17.
