UNLV Runnin' Rebels Defeat UNR 98-79

LAS VEGAS: UNLV improved its record to 3-0 on the season with a 98-79 victory over UNR on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The team continued its hot shooting from the field. The Rebels shot .542 (39-for-72) from the field, .615 (24-for-39) in the second half. For the season, UNLV is shooting .557 (113-for-203) from the field. The first half was close between UNR and UNLV. The Runnin? Rebels biggest lead of the first half was 12 points at 24-12. UNR cut the deficit to 32-28 with 3:46 to play. UNLV led 41-35 at halftime.

UNLV came out in the second half and outscored UNR 57-44. It was the most points scored in one half by UNLV since they scored 60 points in the first half against Sacred Heart on Nov. 14, 1998.

UNLV went on a 21-9 run to lead 62-44 (12:47). UNLV?s biggest lead of the game was 24 points at 92-68 with 3:25 to play. Junior center Kaspars Kambala sparked UNLV in the second half with 9 points and 9 rebounds. He recorded his 14th career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Junior guard Trevor Diggs led UNLV with a season and game-high 20 points (8-for-16 FG). Five UNLV players scored in double figures. Junior guard Danny Brotherson scored a season-high 18 (7-for-10), 11 in the first half, senior guard Mark Dickel added 16 and a career-high 14 assists in 35 minutes and sophomore forward Chris Richardson tied his career-high with 11.

UNR was led by guard Adrian McCullough with 16 and guard Terrance Green added 15. UNR shot .356 (26-for-73) from the field. UNLV shot .300 (6-for-20) from 3-point range and UNR .308 (8-for-26). UNLV shot .737 (14-for-19) from the line and UNR .826 (19-for-23). UNLV outrebounded UNR 46-41.
