Lewis-Clark State Rallies to Defeat UNLV Baseball, 9-5

LAS VEGAS - Lewis-Clark State rallied from a 5-1 deficit to post a 9-5 victory over UNLV in the finale of the two-game series on Wednesday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. UNLV won the first game 4-0 on Tuesday. LCS, 4-2, scored two runs in the sixth, four runs in the seventh and two in the eighth.

UNLV, 3-6, led 5-1 after junior second baseman Matt Stoner hit his first home run as a Rebel, a two-run shot to left field in the bottom of the fifth. Junior right-hander Andy McCulloch pitched six strong innings for UNLV. He allowed 5 hits, 3 runs (1 earned), walked none and struck out 4. Senior left-hander Mike Lopez suffered the loss after giving up 3 runs. Right-hander Fletcher Lee recorded the win for the Warriors with 3.1 scoreless innings in relief.

UNLV third baseman Nate Kaup led UNLV with a 3-for-5 performance. The Rebels will continue their season long 19-game homestans when they host 14th-ranked Cal State Fullerton on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 19-21, at Wilson Stadium.
