Garritano Adds Dan Jaffe To Coaching Staff

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball head coach Nick Garritano announced the second addition to his coaching staff with the hiring of Dan Jaffe as Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator.

Jaffe, who will lead the charge working with the hitters and catchers, arrives at UNLV following his tenure at Arizona State, where he served as the Sun Devils' catching coach while playing an integral role in recruiting, scholarship management, player development and day-to-day program operations. At Arizona State, Jaffe oversaw the development of the Sun Devil catchers, including 2024 fourth-round MLB Draft selection Ryan Campos and current catcher Brody Briggs. He also assisted with the management of the pitching staff, led on-campus recruiting efforts, directed summer ball placements and served as camp director and director of baseball operations.

Prior to Arizona State, Jaffe spent two seasons at the University of the Pacific as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. During his tenure, Pacific produced Top-100 recruiting classes in both 2022 and 2023 for the first time in program history. He also mentored MLB Draft picks Hunter Hayes and Elijah Birdsong, marking just the second time in program history that Pacific had two pitchers selected in the first 20 rounds of the MLB Draft.

Jaffe also spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Georgia Tech, where he worked with the pitchers and catchers and coached first base. During his first season in Atlanta, the Yellow Jackets earned the No. 3 national seed in the NCAA Tournament and captured the ACC Coastal Division title. Under his guidance, catcher Kyle McCann was named a finalist for the Buster Posey Award, presented annually to the nation's top catcher.

Additional coaching experience includes serving as an associate scout for the San Diego Padres and as the catching coach for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the prestigious Cape Cod League. Jaffe previously worked for Garritano at the College of Southern Nevada as catching coach, camp director and recruiting coordinator, helping lead the Coyotes to a 2017 Junior College World Series appearance.

As a collegiate player, Jaffe concluded his career as team captain at Pacific University in Oregon and also competed at the College of Southern Nevada and Villanova.

Jaffe and his wife, Kailey, have one daughter, Raegan.
