November 6, 1998

Led by Wade Fraser's game-winning goal in the 82nd minute the Rebels fell in a 2-1 decision to #16 Southern Methodist (14-3-1) in conference action Friday night at Peter Johann Memorial Field on the campus of UNLV (7-10-0).

SMU struck first with a goal in the 21st minute when Jacob Williams headed in a ball off the assist by Paul Broome, originating from a free kick by Bret Corbin. That proved to be the only goal scored in the first 45 minutes as the two teams went into halftime with the Mustangs holding the 1-0 advantage. The equalizing goal came at 72:23 when UNLV's Todd Roberts took Jason Melendez's throw in and got it past the Mustang keeper. The Mustang's answered with a goal at 82:21 when Wade Fraser found the rebound and slipped it past keeper Ryan Bledsoe.

Sunday is senior day as the Rebels play their final match of the year against Texas Christian. UNLV will honor T'Jon Akins, Kiko Medina and Michael Griego as they play their final games as Rebels. Game time is set for 12:00pm at Peter Johann Field.
