Kristosik Again Named Player of the Week

October 12, 1998

LAS VEGAS - For the second time in three weeks, UNLV punter Joe Kristosik has been named the WAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the Mountain Division, the conference announced Monday.

Kristosik's 13 punts Saturday during the Rebels' 38-14 loss at BYU tied both the school and Cougar Stadium record. His 52.5 average for the game included eight kicks longer than 50 yards and four longer than 60. The Bishop Gorman High School graduate kicked two season-long punts of 67 yards.

Kristosik's 47.07 average this season on 44 attempts currently leads the WAC and puts the senior second in the nation behind Michigan State's Craig Jarrett, who carries a 47.55 average on 15 less attempts.

Kristosik earned the same award on Sept. 28, becoming the only punter in UNLV history to win player-of-the-week honors since the UNLV first joined a conference in 1982.
