Robinson Completes Football Staff

February 25, 1999

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's football coaching staff is set for the 1999 season the school announced Thursday.

Head Coach John Robinson, who was hired on Dec. 3, brought in eight new coaches and retained third-year coach Mike Bradeson.

Robinson put the finishing touches on his nine-man staff with the hiring of former Southern California coach John Jackson as assistant head coach and running backs coach.

On offense, Jackson joins long-time University of Texas offensive coordinator Gene Dahlquist, who will coordinate the Rebels' passing game and oversee the quarterbacks. Also, Rob Boras will coach the offensive line, Steve Leach takes over the wide receivers spot and Jeff Kearin will oversee both the tight ends and special teams.

On the defensive side of the ball, former Oregon State ends coach Jeff McInerney has been tabbed defensive coordinator and will be joined by linebackers coach Joe Barry while Bradeson will continue to coach the secondary.

The staff is rounded out by Joe Hubbard, who will serve as UNLV's recruiting coordinator.

The Rebels begin their month-long spring practice on March 20 and kick off the 1999 season Sept. 4 at North Texas.
