LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Runnin' Rebels will travel to Los Angeles, Calif, to face No. 15 UCLA on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion (12,800). The game at UCLA will conclude UNLV's four-game road trip. UNLV then will return home for the Third Annual Las Vegas Shootout on Saturday, Dec. 19, against No. 6 Cincinnati. The first game will feature No. 13 Arizona vs. Iowa State.
All Runnin' Rebel games will be carried live on KXNT AM-840. Ken Korach and Glen Gondrezick will call the action all season long. The pregame show for Saturday's game will begin at 1:30 p.m. Fans can bring their radio to the game and tune in to KXNT's radio broadcast inside the Thomas & Mack Center on 99.5 FM. Runnin' Rebel basketball can be heard on www.broadcast.com
TELEVISION: Saturday's game will be televised by FOX Sports Net (Channel 49 in Las Vegas). Steve Physioc and Dan Belluomini will call the action.
RADIO/TV SHOW INFO: "Game Time with UNLV Hoops" television show will be shown every Sunday on KLAS TV-8 at 4:30 p.m. The show, with Head Coach Bill Bayno and host Chris Maathuis, features previews of upcoming opponents and highlights of previous games.
"The Bill Bayno Radio Show" can be heard live every Tuesday from Gordon Biersch (located on 3987 Paradise Road) at 7 p.m on KXNT AM-840 with hosts Ken Korach and Glen Gondrezick. The weekly show features interviews with coaches, opposing coaches as well as listener call-ins. Listeners are invited to call in to the show at (702) 733-5968. The next two coaches shows will air on Tuesday, Dec. 8 and Dec. 15.

TRAVEL ITINERARY: UNLV will depart for Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 11, and will arrive at 1:05 p.m. The team will stay at the LAX Marriott (310) 641-5700. The team will return to Las Vegas after Saturday's game and arrive at 8:55 p.m. on Southwest Airlines.
UNLV vs. ASU RECAP: Arizona State defeated UNLV 79-70 on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the America West Arena. The game was close throughout until Arizona State took control late in the game. The story of the game was ASU guard Eddie House. He scored a career-high 39 points (14-for-27 FG, 6-for-11 3PFG), including 27 in the second half to lead the Sun Devils. Center Kaspars Kambala's 3-point play with 4:58 to play gave UNLV its final lead at 63-60. ASU then went on a 14-2 run to take a 74-65 lead with 52 seconds remaining. The first half was close throughout with nine ties. UNLV's biggest lead was five points at 28-23 (8:01). UNLV led 33-32 at halftime but was outscored 47-37 in the second half. Guard Alton Mason added 11 points for ASU and forward Bobby Lazor pulled down 10 rebounds. UNLV forward Shawn Marion compiled his second straight double-double (third of the season) with season highs in both points (20) and rebounds (12). Kambala was the only other UNLV player in double figures with 12 points and he added 8 rebounds. UNLV shot .519 (27-for-52) from the field and ASU shot .444 (28-for-63); UNLV shot .333 (4-for-12) from 3-point range and ASU .407 (11-for-27); UNLV shot .667 (12-for-18) from the line and ASU .706 (12-for-17). ASU outrebounded UNLV 34-32 and UNLV committed 22 turnovers to ASU's 17.

UCLA HEAD COACH STEVE LAVIN: He is in his third season at UCLA and his record is 52-19 (.732).
SERIES HISTORY: UCLA leads the series against UNLV 3-0. UCLA defeated UNLV 65-57 last season (Dec. 27, 1997) at the Thomas & Mack Center. Five UCLA players scored in double figures (Toby Bailey 17, J.R. Henderson 13, Baron Davis 11, Kris Johnson 11, Earl Watson 10). UNLV was led by Tyrone Nesby with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Kaspars Kambala added 10 rebounds. UNLV is 0-1 all-time at Pauley Pavilion. UCLA defeated UNLV 108-83 on Dec. 4, 1993.
UNLV vs. PAC-10: UNLV is 18-13 (.581) all-time vs. the PAC-10, including 0-2 this season: Arizona (9-4), Arizona State (0-2), California (1-0), Oregon (1-1), Oregon State (2-0), USC (2-3), Stanford (1-0), UCLA (0-3), Washington (1-0), Washington State (1-0).
RUNNIN' REBEL HEAD COACH BILL BAYNO: He is in his fourth season as the head coach of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels. He is UNLV's 10th head coach in the 40-year history of Rebel basketball. He has a career record of 56-42 (.571) in three seasons at the helm of Runnin' Rebel basketball. Bayno has recorded back-to-back 20-win seasons (42-23 record over that stretch) and has guided UNLV to postseason play for two straight seasons. UNLV compiled an overall record of 22-10 in 1996-97 in Bayno's second season.
UNLV more than doubled its win total from 1995-96 (10-16 record). UNLV advanced to the third round of the NIT. Last season, UNLV compiled an overall record of 20-13. The Runnin' Rebels had a remarkable run winning four games in five days in the WAC Tournament. UNLV posted victories over Hawai'i, Utah, Fresno State and New Mexico to capture the WAC Tournament championship and receive the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. UNLV reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 1990-91 season. UNLV faced eighth-ranked Princeton in the NCAA East Regionals in Hartford, Conn. Bayno served seven years as the associate head coach at the University of Massachusetts under John Calipari (now head coach of the NBA's New Jersey Nets).
Other coaching experience includes: 1987-88: Assistant Coach, Baptist College (Charleston, SC); 1986-87: Graduate Assistant Coach, University of Kansas; 1985-86: Graduate Assistant Coach, Seton Hall University. 3-POINT GOALS: Since the 3-point field goal was adopted by the NCAA in 1986-87, UNLV has converted at least one 3-pointer in all 396 games played (counting 7 games this season). The Big West Conference experimented with the 3-point shot in the 1982-83, 1984-85 and 1985-86 seasons. During that period, UNLV connected from 3-point range in 53 of 64 games. The UNLV streak for games in which it sank at least one 3-point shot stands at 409. The last time the Runnin' Rebels failed to make at least one 3-pointer came against Long Beach State on Jan. 25, 1986.
HOME RECORD: UNLV has compiled a record of 44-14 (.759) under Bill Bayno at the Thomas & Mack Center over four seasons. UNLV is 35-8 (.814) over the last three seasons.
NOTES: The Runnin' Rebels were ranked 25th by Sports Illustrated's 1998 preseason Top 25 (Nov. 23 issue)...the 103 points scored against Sacred Heart in the season opener was the first 100-point game for UNLV since Dec. 30, 1994, at Central Florida.
