LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Runnin Rebels will host No. 18 Oklahoma State on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 9 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center (18,500). The contest will mark the third straight game against a ranked opponent (vs. No. 15 UCLA on Dec. 12; vs. No. 3 Cincinnati on Dec. 19) and the fourth ranked opponent overall (vs. No. 7 Kansas on Nov. 27) in the AP Top 20 in 10 games this season.
All Runnin Rebel games will be carried live on KXNT AM-840. Ken Korach and Glen Gondrezick will call the action all season long. The pregame show for Tuesdays game will begin at 8:30 p.m. Fans can bring their radio to the game and tune in to KXNTs radio broadcast inside the Thomas & Mack Center on 99.5 FM. Runnin Rebel basketball can be heard on www.broadcast.com
TELEVISION: Tuesdays game will be televised by ESPN.
RADIO/TV SHOW INFO: "Game Time with UNLV Hoops" television show will be shown every Sunday on KLAS TV-8 at 4:30 p.m. The show, with Head Coach Bill Bayno and host Chris Maathuis, features previews of upcoming opponents and highlights of previous games.
"The Bill Bayno Radio Show" can be heard live every Tuesday from Gordon Biersch (located on 3987 Paradise Road) at 7 p.m on KXNT AM-840 with hosts Ken Korach and Glen Gondrezick. The weekly show features interviews with coaches, opposing coaches as well as listener call-ins. Listeners are invited to call in to the show at (702) 733-5968. The next two coaches shows will air on Monday, Dec. 21 and Tuesday, Dec. 29.

UNLV vs. CINCINNATI RECAP: Third-ranked Cincinnati defeated UNLV 86-73 on Saturday, Dec. 19, in the Las Vegas Shootout at the Thomas & Mack Center. No. 8 Arizona defeated Iowa State 75-61 in the first game. UNLV played a strong first half and they built its biggest lead of eight points at 20-12 on a 3-pointer by senior guard Brian Keefe at 12:33. The Bearcats, 9-0, tied the score at 30-30 (4:16) on a jumper by center Kenyon Martin. Cincinnati took a 36-33 lead at halftime.
Cincinnati came out in the second half and shot .731 (19-for-26) from the field. The Bearcats built a 10-point lead (52-42 at 13:30) on back-to-back dunks by guard Melvin Levett. Cincy later took a 58-46 lead with 9:28 to play. UNLV then outscored Cincinnati 11-2. Sophomore guard Greedy Daniels sparked the run with 5 points and senior forward Kevin Simmons bucket with 5:55 to play cut the lead to 60-57. Cincinnati then pulled away with an 19-10 run to lead 79-67 (1:13).
Martin led Cincinnati with 23 points (11-for-12), 11 rebounds, 6 blocked shots and 4 steals. Forward Pete Mickeal added 23 points and Levett had 19. UNLV was led by junior forward Shawn Marion with 20 points, which marked his third straight 20 point or more game. Sophomore center Kaspars Kambala added 18 points and 8 rebounds and Simmons added 11. Junior point guard Mark Dickel dished out a game-high 11 assists.
Cincinnati shot .567 (34-for-60) from the field and UNLV shot .455 (25-for-55). Cincinnati shot .143 (2-for-14) from 3-point range, UNLV was .350 (7-for-20); Cincy shot .667 (16-for-24) from the line and UNLV .696 (16-for-23). Cincinnati outrebounded UNLV 32-29.

RUNNIN REBEL HEAD COACH BILL BAYNO: He is in his fourth season as the head coach of the UNLV Runnin Rebels. He is UNLVs 10th head coach in the 40-year history of Rebel basketball. He has a career record of 56-44 (.560) in three seasons at the helm of Runnin Rebel basketball. Bayno has recorded back-to-back 20-win seasons (42-23 record over that stretch) and has guided UNLV to postseason play for two straight seasons. UNLV compiled an overall record of 22-10 in 1996-97 in Baynos second season. UNLV more than doubled its win total from 1995-96 (10-16 record). UNLV advanced to the third round of the NIT. Last season, UNLV compiled an overall record of 20-13. The Runnin Rebels had a remarkable run winning four games in five days in the WAC Tournament.
UNLV posted victories over Hawaii, Utah, Fresno State and New Mexico to capture the WAC Tournament championship and receive the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. UNLV reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 1990-91 season. UNLV faced eighth-ranked Princeton in the NCAA East Regionals in Hartford, Conn. Bayno served seven years as the associate head coach at the University of Massachusetts under John Calipari (now head coach of the NBAs New Jersey Nets). Other coaching experience includes: 1987-88: Assistant Coach, Baptist College (Charleston, SC); 1986-87: Graduate Assistant Coach, University of Kansas; 1985-86: Graduate Assistant Coach, Seton Hall University. 3-POINT GOALS: Since the 3-point field goal was adopted by the NCAA in 1986-87, UNLV has converted at least one 3-pointer in all 398 games played (counting 9 games this season). The Big West Conference experimented with the 3-point shot in the 1982-83, 1984-85 and 1985-86 seasons. During that period, UNLV connected from 3-point range in 53 of 64 games. The UNLV streak for games in which it sank at least one 3-point shot stands at 411. The last time the Runnin Rebels failed to make at least one 3-pointer came against Long Beach State on Jan. 25, 1986.
