Men's Soccer Downs Cal State Northridge

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's soccer team defeated Cal State Northridge 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Johann Field.

After a tough loss Friday night, the Rebels look to rebound against the Matadors. UNLV and Cal State Northridge played a 0-0 first half with some great defensive plays and good work from the keepers.

Three minutes into the second half, freshman midfielder Alejandro Hernandez scored his second goal of the season and the game winner for the Rebels on an unassisted shot from the top of the 18. Senior keeper Robert Ackah tallied five saves, posted his third shutout of the season and improved his record to 5-1 on the year for UNLV.

The Rebels begin a five-game road trip starting next weekend in New Mexico for the UNM Invitational where they will play Air Force and Alabama A&M. The Rebels will then get back into conference play, visiting Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine and San Diego State. UNLV will return home Nov. 5 with a match against New Mexico on Senior Day. Game time will be at noon.
