LAS VEGAS - A rainstorm over Wilson Stadium halted any chance for a Rebel comeback in Wednesday's baseball game against Lewis-Clark State College as the game ended in the middle of the seventh inning, 6-5.

The Rebels (3-7) led early in the game, scoring three runs in the first two innings. Freshman lefty Giovanni Pupo, in just his second career start, allowed just one hit and no runs over the first three frames of the game.

The Warriors (4-1) used the help of a walk, an error and a hit batsman to score five big runs in the fourth, however, and take a 5-3 advantage.

UNLV answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, the result of three straight singles by Trent Kitsch, Nate Kaup and Adam Manley.

Lewis-Clark's Kurt Koshelnik led off the fifth with a single, advanced to third on a Jason Ellison double and scored on a routine groundout to bring home what proved to be the winning run.

After two more scoreless innings on both sides, a lightning delay was called in the middle of the seventh. The rain began to fall shortly thereafter, and the game was called.

The Rebels hit the road for the first time this season, kicking off a three-game series at Cal State Fullerton on Friday and remaining in the area for a single match against Southern California on Monday.
