March 21, 2000

Box Score

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The UNLV baseball team was denied a chance to come back against Utah Sunday when its game was called in the seventh inning due to snow with the Rebels down, 11-5.

The game was ruled official through six innings of play, giving Utah (11-14, 4-2 MWC) an 11-5 win and handing UNLV (7-21, 0-6 MWC) its sixth straight conference loss.

The Utes offense took advantage of UNLV's Justin Fairbanks and Ryan Olson, scoring in every inning except the second.

The Rebels took a brief lead early in the game when Adam Manley hit a two-run homer in the third inning, his third of the year and second of the road trip.

Utah quickly recaptured a lead it would never relinquish on a three-run shot by Jed Chrisman in the bottom of the inning. A solo homer by Donald Hawes in the fourth and a four-run fifth held off any Rebel attempts to overtake Utah.

The Rebels return home and will face New Mexico in the first game of a three-game set on Friday, March 24 at 7:05 p.m. at Wilson Satdium.
