LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UNLV track and field team continued its spring training this weekend at the Long Beach Invitational on Saturday.
Katie Barto won the 3,000 meters for the second straight week. After winning the event at home in the UNLV Invitational on April 8, Barto trimmed another seven seconds off her season best to win the event in 10:02.58. That mark is just eight seconds short of the school record set by Angie Fortner last year.
UNLV also captured two relay victories. The 4X100 squad of Chantel Yates, Michele Davis, Erin Dangerfield and Ayanna Hutchinson won with a mark of 47.35.
The 4X400-meter relay team of Kathryn Goetz, Paula Lechner, Tiffany Smith and Nickeisha Charles ran a season best 3:58.10 to win its event.
Charlotte McGee once again topped her career best mark in the pole vault, clearing 11-0 and finishing eighth overall.
The Rebels will have two weeks before the Cal-Nevada Championships in Berkeley, Calif., on April 28-29.
