Men's Soccer defeats Tulsa, 1-0

DALLAS, Texas - The UNLV men's soccer team defeated Tulsa 1-0 Saturday night in the second round of the SMU Nike Classic.

The hero of the day for the Rebels was senior Ryan Bindrup for the Rebels, improving their record to 2-3-1 on the season. In a defensive struggle that saw 19 total goalie saves, Bindrup connected on a shot off a free kick by junior Tyler Turchi for the game winning goal at the 87:05 mark.

This was one of those back and forth, tug-of-war affairs. Both teams combined for 15 shots in the first period and 43 for the game. UNLV senior goalie, Robert Ackah saved 16 shots in the match, 13 of which caome in the second half alone, to preserve his second shutout of the season. Ackah was also named to the All-Touranment team as well as senior defender Brent Storrs and junior midfielder Andrew Hooker.

The Rebels will return home to begin Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play against Cal Poly on Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m.
